Techna International is the U.K. distributor for Dold’s market-leading range of DIN-rail insulated enclosures.

Nine extensive enclosure ranges, provide a vast choice of enclosures, terminal types and configurations, (including pluggable, screw-clamp, and PCB terminals, or without terminals), in numerous widths and depths.

These DIN-rail mounted enclosures represent the very best in cutting-edge enclosure technology and can be customised with many optional features such as ventilation slots, openings for display and control components, mixed terminal-types and custom colours.

NEW!  |  KO 4300 Series Enclosures - Take the BUS by RAIL

The new KO4300 Series is the latest addition to our extensive ranges of DIN rail mounted enclosures and introduces many exclusive features to accommodate the latest cutting-edge technology.

Data connection is made easy with optional RJ45 (6- and 8-pole) and D-Sub connectors.
A pioneering Bus system, (See “In-Rail BUS System” News item) which fits inside the DIN Rail, allows power and data to be transmitted between enclosure modules which are available with internal bus elements, external bus elements or both internal and external bus, with electrical contact from internal to external bus, via the PCB.

The KO4300 range is extremely flexible, offering module widths from 22.5 to 90mm in two depths: 97 and 118mm.
 
Enclosures are available :
1.  without terminals
2.  with integral box terminals
3.  with plug-in screw-clamp terminals
4.  with plug-in spring-clamp terminals

Up-to 16 screw- or spring-clamp terminals are available per 22.5mm module width and can be supplied in the form of coded plug-inserts, for ease of assembly, ensuring that terminals cannot be incorrectly assembled.

PCBs can be mounted vertically or horizontally and PCB connection is via high-temperature machine-solderable terminal blocks which require no masking in flow-solder processes.

In addition, an innovative spring contact provides an earth connection between the PCB and DIN rail for improved EMC compliance.

As part of our quality commitment, all enclosures comply with EN60439-1 and are flame retardant to V0 (UL94).

With a total of 112 enclosure variations for vertical PCBs and 60 variants for horizontal PCBs, the KO4300 series presents all the versatility and connection possibilities required for today’s most demanding applications.

Further custom options include: ventilation slots, panel apertures and a choice of colours, for volume requirements.

NEW!  |  IN-RAIL BUS System for Enclosures

Providing a unique connectivity method for DIN-rail enclosures is the 'In-Rail BUS system' which allows the use of various enclosure series such as the KO4300 and KU4100.


The BUS system provides easy and quick assembly and expansion via connectable BUS PCBs housed in a carrier profile within the DIN-rail, together with carrier-rail covers and safety end caps.

Each PCB has a maximum of 5 rails as standard (other variations on request) each carrying up to 5A (25A max. total).

Optional coding of the BUS system via a coding pin to the spring-contact block through a specific code hole in the BUS PCB, prevents incorrect assembly and general layout of the BUS PCB can be according to customer requirements such that with double or multiple-coatings, rail cross-overs are possible to designated coded positions and rail “breaks” are available for operation of BUS signals inside instrumentation.

NEW!  |  KU4100 Series Enclosures

The new KU4100 Enclosure series, from Techna, is a three-tier, DIN-rail mounted range of housings providing some of the most versatile enclosure configurations available today, to suit the ever increasing requirements of designers and engineers in needing to put “more” in-to less space.

With a depth of 70mm and front-face height of 45mm, the range can be built-in-to L.V. distribution systems and panels alongside other standard components such as MCB’s, RCBO’s and relays.

Available in six 17.5mm module-width multiples, from 17.5mm to 140mm, the range offers over 20 standard configurations and virtually any customised permutation of terminal types, PCB arrangements and optional features.

Enclosures are available in several terminal choices:
- Without terminals
- With box-terminals up-to 25A (8.9mm grid spacing with a maximum of 8 per 17.5mm module
  width)
- With PCB box terminals (5.08mm grid spacing with a maximum of 12 per 17.5mm module
  width)
- With plug-in PCB terminals (5mm grid spacing with a maximum of 12 per 17.5mm module  
  width.) e.g. a 140mm wide enclosure (8 module widths) can accommodate up-to 96
  terminals.
- All the above in either screw-clamp or spring-clamp versions.

Slim 17.5mm modules maximise on component density by accommodating up-to two vertical PCBs (providing larger surface area than would several small horizontal PCBs) resulting in the best cost option. Wider enclosures can utilise maximum components on up-to three PCBs (one per tier) mounted horizontally across the full width of the enclosure, (providing the most cost effective enclosures) with heavy or large components normally being located on the bottom PCB to provide optimum stability.

Optional features include: 6 or 8-pole RJ45 sockets, EIB-sockets, Earth contact to DIN-rail, USB ports, ventilation slots, holes for LED’s and control components, apertures for relay access, special colours and printing, blanked-off terminals and special custom requirements.

The picture shows a typical arrangement of two horizontal PCBs, four and eight-pole plug-in terminals, a front rotary control and various relays, the top ones being manually accessed via apertures.

The extensive range of termination choices, accessories, options and enclosure sizes has been evolved to provide designers and engineers with the most cost-effective enclosure solutions, in the widest possible choice of configurations to suit numerous applications, whilst retaining a robust shell with an aesthetically appealing appearance.
